  • NMEA 2000 cable to 2016 F200

Can't seem to find anyone who has installed this cable with my same engine - the internet posts I'm finding show similar but different enough engine wiring such that they're no help to me. I can't find any 4wire connector for this 19ft cable which is supposedly for F200 engines. Here are a couple photos - maybe I'm missing something...? Also seems like the 19ft cable will be too short in my 22.5' CC.

Holy crap I am fighting to get another picture posted here (don't even know how this one got posted!) to show the front angle where you'll see there's no 4wire male to connect to. Sorry, if you can just click the below link that should get you the other photo...

I'm thinking this is a "fly by wire" - DEC engine?

in which case the NMEA 2000 connection is made at the wiring under the remote control (shift/throttle)

    what gauge(s) do you have?

These are the gauges - does that help? I didn't see anything under the 'dash' on the Yamaha 'circuit bar' (for lack of proper term) that has a power, couple accessory and BUS plugs. No 4wire plug on that bar. Didn't see anything else among the wiring harness that was unmated and even appeared to be able to be adapted down to 4 wires.

So seems I need a MARE-002, correct? Although after posting this, seems at least domestically, this cable is NLA. Must be a successor cable no? This stuff is beyond my pay grade so can't find successor if there is one

          - have a look at this pictorial - how close does that match what you currently have?

          - exactly what are you looking to do - just connect one MFD to get engine data?
or do you already have the MFD on a NMEA 2000 backbone with other stuff?

          - yes, the MARE-002 is discontinued, here are a couple of similar:
(one more egregiously overpriced than the other)

If you are up to some minor electrical work,
you can buy the connector Yamaha uses and make your own from a standard NMEA cable:

Diagram is my setup exactly, thanks. Just the MFD for the one engine's data. No NMEA backbone established. Maybe I should set a backbone up, I just may be simply ignorant of all the possibilities!

Looking at those two links you noted, those look to employ the same 4pin connector that the current version I have (Lowrance NEMA2000 cable). Can handle any cable modification so may try that suggestion. But what does the 4pin connect to?

            Thx

The 4-pin connector goes on one of the "device" ports of the multi port hub. You can go directly to your mfd - no additional NMEA 2000 backbone needed - so long as your adapter cable has the right gender at the NMEA end
you may need a different gendered cable than the one you have

Right, that's the problem - no direct connection on the hub as-is. Need an adapter I guess, not sure how I can adapt that. Will browse the site and see if there's something there. Appreciate your help and replies.

To follow up, in case anyone else is doing same, here's what I had to order.

                  From SimYamaha:
Code Item Qty Price Grand Total
                  6Y8-82582-01-00 2 PIN CAP ASSEMBLY 6Y8-82582-01-00 1 $3.61 $3.61
                  6Y8-82582-11-00 4 PIN CAP ASSEMBLY 6Y8-82582-11-00 2 $4.43 $8.86
                  6Y8-82553-01-00 1 FT MAIN BUS WIRE 6Y8-82553-01-00 1 $39.57 $39.57
I didn't need to cap assemblies since the additional hub I ordered came with caps (wasted about $14 there).

                  From Marine Surplus.com:
Yamaha Multi Hub Bus Assembly 6Y8-81920-01-00 $15 (needed this since my existing hub had no free accessory terminals). The 1ft main bus jumps the original hub (which is powered of course) to the 2nd hub and powers via the bus harness.

                    Glad it worked out.
$40 for four 12 inch wires and a connector on each end? ouch
You got a deal on the hub, anyway.

Concur. I had wires and plugs carted on another site and realized it will be weeks before I could build it. And $40 was the cheapest I could find :/ You should see what they want for the only two other length options - 11 and 21 feet (or thereabouts) :0
