  • Two Stroke Lower Units

    Will a lower unit from a '98 150 work on a '94 115?
    Are they even close?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    No, not even close.

Is there any chance that the mounting bracket from the 115, with ID & model #, can be used with a 1998 150 2 stroke?

OR is it a completely different family of motor?

I'm looking at a 115TLRS model number on a motor and an estimate for a lower unit part number 64D-45300-03-8D.

          Almetelo gave you the answer.

The 115 and the 150 are not in the same family. I can't imagine very many parts being interchangeable at all.

The gear case is physically larger on the 150 than on the 115. The 115 is usually a I4 or V4 whereas the 150 is usually a V6.

The gear part number you list is a V6 gear case. The propeller for a 115 won't fit it and the gear case itself won't fit a 115.

Go to the Yamaha parts catalog and look at the differences between any 115 and any 150. They are major.

the cases will physically fit each other if the shafts are the same length.
but the gear ratios are so different you will never prop it correctly.

the brackets may or may not interchange.
