Oil filter F200 and F150

Maybe I just suck at the search, but can't find any discussion here (surprised, so guessing my search-fu just sucks :/ ) on oil filter alts to the Yammy OEM. When I did the 100hr service on my 2016 F200 I used Mobil1 M102 filter based on internet discussions (that I can't find now of course).

What's current conventional wisdom re: using the Mobil1 filters vs Yamaha OEM?

from what I've seen, "conventional wisdom" is one of two positions:

- "you paid so much for the engine - its stupid not to protect your investment with OEM"

or

- "brand (insert name) is the best! that's what I use"


I suspect for a tech working in a Yamaha authorized shop, its a no-brainer - use the OEM.

And personally, if my engine was under warranty, I would use OEM -

if only because Yamaha (AFAIK) doesn't provide the detail on their filter
that would allow me to prove equivalence to another brand.

But since my engines are long out of warranty,
I use any good quality brand that matches the size, gasket and thread,
and that has an anti-drainback valve.

IMO, changing the oil at 100 hours means there's not really much for the filter to do anyway

the major filter brands publish detailed technical info for every filter, Google eventually turns them up

as I said, I don't know that the Yamaha filter has one -

but - IMO - its "good to have" - and no downside

Yamaha does not use an anti-drainback filter. I have cut more apart than most folks. I use Yamaha brand cause that is what we stock. if iever had an issue arrive I can call Yamaha.

They do have a diaphragm in them.
