I have a 1987 Yamaha 25hp outboard that I need to change the bearings for the prop shaft. I need the special wrench for removing the spanner nut behind the prop and I can't find one. Any suggestions?

A Yamaha is not a Yamaha is not a Yamaha. There can be many differences between models. They are not all the same.

Removing the bearing carrier on a 1987 25 hp yamaha.
I drilled and broke out the spanner nut that holds the bearing carrier in place and now the carrier won't come out. This is the first time I have done this. Does the bearing carrier screw in like the spanner nut or does it slide in? I think it slides in but before I go putting a lot of heat and prying I thought I would ask.

what I did was ran over to the local machine shop.
had them build me a tool from a 3" piece of 1 1/4 prop shaft.
drilled and tapped one end to fit my slide hammer threads and the other end got drilled and tapped for the propshaft threads.
I also made one to fit the 9.9/15 two strokes.
the tool the book shows barely works in the class room.
