Seized manual valve removal

Hi all,

. I'm rebuilding the trim/tilt on a 200 hpdi and the manual valve is not cooperating and it's completely seized. I already removed the unit and have it on a bench with the valve bathing in rust penetrant.

My question is does the entire valve slide out after removing the snap ring, or does it still need to some how turn for removal?

I have read what not to do as far as using impact drivers or torches to get it to move, but very little on what to do.

Any hints or tips to getting this out would be appreciated.

I like the impact driver. Bit has to fit correctly and I wouldn't hit it with a sledgehammer.

Yes, remove the split ring and screw it all the way out.

remember there is a valve with a ball and a pin,actually two, inside the pump housing. one will be in the housing the other in the boddy. do not lose them the parts are not sold seperatly. that valve in the pump body is about 70 bucks.

Some of those manual releif valves are left handed thread.

It is marked on the transom bracket with an arrow.

The valve is on the left side of the bracket and it turns counter clockwise to lower.

My F150 will weigh in with arrow pointing counterclockwise. Turn it that direction and motor will drop. In driveway and thought it was time to give that screw a little exercise.....

And I still like my impact tool, dammit
