Hey guys my 70 hp outboard will not start. I have just had the battery charged however they said cranking power was down to 485cc (battery rated to 680cc). When i turn the switch to on I hear a click then all the guages switch off and i am without power until i turn off and turn the key on again. Engine will not crank over. Does this sound like a bad battery ? I checked the user manual and it says the engine only needs 420cc to start.

Sounds like the battery IS toast. You can charge all you want but if it won't take a load (cranking), it's useless..
Get it LOAD TESTED at any auto parts store, Walmart, etc for free.
Bring some $ as you'll likely be replacing it.
Curious, who and how did they figure "cranking power was down to 485cc" ???

(A bad battery will do the same no matter what engine/vehicle it's on)Last edited by TownsendsFJR1300; 04-01-2018, 07:37 AM.Scott
