  • Yamaha Pro Series II Tach to Command Link Install

What I am wanting to do is remove my Yamaha Pro Series II Tach (6Y7-83540-90-00) and replace it with the Command Link Digital Tach (6Y8-8350T-01-00). I have the parts list and everything for the Digital Tach that I found here

My question is would I already have any of the buses or pigtail wires needed to install the Command Link Tach or are the wires different which lead to the buses and motor?

Also, I have heard that when you install the Command Link Tach it only shows hours from the time of install, does anyone have any experience with this and is it accurate?

This is for a 2008 Yamaha F150 TXR

    Thanks in advance.

The rigging for a Pro Series tachometer is completely different from that which is required for Command Link instruments.

Have you talked to your dealer or are you just winging it on your own?

Go here and look at a diagram of what is to be installed. You need to decide if you want square gauges or round gauges. Square has more functionality.

A CL tachometer reports engine hours that are in the engines ECU. So what you have heard is incorrect.

Thanks boscoe99 for the quick response.

I am going to do the wiring on my own, and I already have purchased the square tach. I wanted to get an hours gauge and for the price and the extra functionality I just went ahead and got the Command Link square tach rather than pay $100 for just an hours guage.
