Having oil leak around the dust cap, so I purchased the trim rod removal tool. Screws would not turn. Used cheetah pipe and broke the pins on tool off! Screws must be seized up or did last mech. use Loctite. Any suggestions on how to remove them?

Spoke with Mike at Moto-Stop.com, they make the trim rod screw removal tool. He said if engine has been in saltwater the screw caps are corroded and the only way to loosen them is with a punch and hammer. The caps will be damaged and have to be replaced! He was right!

A hot air gun blasting the outer surface of the cylinder will cause it to expand. Then, a piece of dry ice applied to the cap will cause it to shrink. Hopefully, the proper tool and the use thereof will allow the cap to be unscrewed.
Or, has the cap already been buggered up by using a punch and hammer?
