Yamaha F80BET

Hi,
The power trim on my Yamaha F80BET has stopped working. It makes a single click (as though there is power) when you press the power trim tilt switch on either then engine or control lever but nothing happens? Any ideas?

bad relay, bad wiring between relay and T&T motor, or a bad motor would be my thoughts.

Take wires off of relay that go to motor and jump them to a 12 volt battery to see if motor will run would be my 1st test or get a voltmeter and start testing to see what is working and what is not. remember both the + and - have to get to motor for it to run

I hit the T&T motor lightly with a hammer and then the trim started to work? What does this mean? Can I take it off easily and get it repaired? Thanks.

you will have to take it off and open it up to see what it looks like.

could be brushes stuck or things rusted up inside due to water getting in there

I can just undo the bolts on the side? I can cause any damage?

on my C40TLRX I supported the motor in the up position disconnected the top pin to let T&T swing away from transom enough to get to the screw/bolts holding just the motor on the pump.

I have no idea about your F8, but a service manual would help
