Just joined and looking forward to all the knowledge in here. I just bought a 86 150 j engine and would like to know the best service manual for this engine. Any additional information books or manuals also.

The best will obviously be a genuine Yamaha service manual.

However, Seloc and other aftermarket manuals can add useful information that won't be in the Yamaha manual. Yamaha manuals have virtually zero theory of operation and few words that describe removal and replacement tasks. -
Thank you for the response. I agree on the stock manuals even tho they do offer info that some aftermarket don't include and visa versa. I am looking for the most informative manual I can find to start with. I try to get as much info before diging into this engine. It's new to me and want to go threw it well before I get OT in the water. At this point it going to be preventive maintenance. I want to learn first then try to do whatever I got to doComment
