  • Rigging

    I am upgrading from a 1999 Yamaha 115 HP 2 stroke to a 2004 F150.
My question while I have purchased a new digital tach, what wiring harness will I need. will any of my existing 115hp harness, wiring etc work with the new 4 stroke?

    Thanks for any info.

Depends on which tach you bought. If it's the 6Y5-8350T-81-00 then only thing you have to do is set dip switches in back of gauge to 4 stroke engine, 2 wire trim sender and 12 pole alternator. If have a 6Y5-8350T-82-00 or newer tach then would need 6Y5-85335-10-00 adpater harness in stalled at engine side of Trim/Oil harness.

How many ivory nylon connectors does you tachometer have? One or two?

Good. It should be plug and play. Two nylon connectors on the motor, two nylon connectors on each end of the trim/oil harness, and two nylon connectors on the tachometer.

As stated by boats.net, set the tachometer dip switches to four stroke engine, two wire sender and twelve pole generator.

A set up card should be included with the tachometer. If not, see below:

Hope he does not get confused, chart does not show a 4 pole

12 pole should get it done

DOH! My mind was stuck on four stroke mode. I guess.

I looked at my tach against the schematic and all is well.
