I have just purchased a boat with 1999 yamaha ox66 225 outboards. I noticed that there is a grease fitting behind the prop on the engines. My question is what type grease and how often should this be greased? i have ran yamaha of lower power but not familiar with this grease fitting. any help would be appreciated. thx in advance and safe boating.

Any type of marine grease will work. It should be greased often, but seldom is. You might encounter a problem actually getting grease in if the old grease has dried out.

Thanks for the info. It probably is dry as the boat set a while prier to my purchasing it.

that fitting lubricates nada.

it may aide in eventual carrier removal, its debatable.
