  • NO FUEL... fuel pump not running - 2004 200hp 2 stroke saltwater ?

Let my boat set in cradle for a year and am trying to get her running.

I have a ton of issues with wiring in the console area... and had that on another thread (deleted) weird stuff... fuel guage out... voltage guage out... tach maxing (during first starting this year)

Had a hard time getting there... but i had her running... ran great... just like a shake down cruise...
    next day... no start...
fuel in 85 gallon tank was terrible...put small outboard tank with fresh fuel on deck for testing.
2 gallon oil tank pump failed... removed it and have not reinstalled...oil tank is not connected...
motor tank is full... I get alarm when i pull level sensor out.
i do not believe at all this would be an issue.

had removed one battery and charged it... Pulled the second... and switched batteries
12.4 volts at positive connect at starter.
    12.4 volts in fuse box

99yam40 - suggested test at fuel pump... it does have voltage
he said that ECU.. controls negative.

The fuel pump gets 12.4 volts at key on.
All wiring in motor APPEARS to be in just the state it was when new.
I will attach wiring photo... wondering if kill switch has died over 14 years in weather.

i don not HEAR pump... and no voltage across fuel pump motor terms
definitely fuel issue... will kick and run on ether....

    what is next in diagnostics?

12.4 volts with a meter? Or whatever Guages on boat. I would like to see 12.7 after charging myself. Slow down a tad. Lots of descriptive stuff here. Keep on one thread and we can move forward. Did this boat ever sink or get wet? Motor that is...

This boat has been maintained since purchase new in 04. It was run 3-5 times per week until I had a job that didn’t give me a chance to be home. She is in a cradle lift in my backyard

she just SAT without running for over a year.

12.4 is at fuel pump positive lead itself to a good ground. With a meter. Same at post on starter. First point from battery. 12.4 spins the hll out of it

boat overall condition is 95%. IF it would run

Ok. This is an SX model right? Can't remember. Hell I can't remember jack sht.

12.4 will barely crank my F150. Forget about that.

You have spark because will run on ether, right?

Forget about wiring. Start tracing and cleaning fuel system. From can to injectors. There is light at the end of tunnel.

        whatever happened to CPostis????

Do you think the filter on the bottom of the fuel pump might just be clogged

Could be. Have you measured fuel pressure between hp pump and injectors? You may have to clean tank through injectors. SX model right? I'm losing my mind over here...

Fuel pump seized up? Disconnect engine wiring from fuel pump and hook up fuel pump directly from a battery. If you hear the pump running then it is whatever controls the power getting to the pump that needs looking at.

If the pump does not run hooked up directly to the battery then it's on to what is wrong with the pump.

Do you have the service manual with the wiring diagrams for the engine?

                Yes. SX. I think

just concerned. Clean fuel from 6 gallon tank. Cannot hear pump run. Also. No voltage across pump contacts at all.

Last time I had it running during this “rebirth” was right after I was in fuse box. Jostled some wiring and BAM. next crank she fired off.

will buy a damn fuel pressure gage and see whats up.

Put a screwdriver on shrader valve and fuel just trickled out. Can the ECU not be powered up

i do not have a scematic of the wiring. Boy that would help

Hot wiring the pump is a great simple test. Thanks duh

Jostling wiring is a big indicator. Fuel pressure may not be the primary....test the pump as Panasonic has directed.

My instinct is telling me the ECU is not getting power

99yam40 states that the ECU controls the negative

the pos and neg wires go to aft of motor right out of ECU

Hey. It takes 3 minutes to get to boat.
A response from here takes longer than running the test

i will have to remove wiring from pump at one end or the other. Gonna unplug the wiring at ECU prior to hot wiring pump. The power will hit the ECU suck to short it out

the ECU not having power is simple. Has to be fused and just two wires running to it

if you would post your engine data plate information please for us all to see that would be good.

Your manual should be here but need be sure to pick the right one.
