Replacing poppet valve on 2003 150 txrb

My 2003 150 txrb is overheating at *****ing speed. I am going to replace the pressure valve. The boat is on a lift. Can I change it on the lift or do I need to pull the boat. Any advice would be appreciated. Is the valve located by the thermostats? Thanks

The valve is typically located on the lower right hand section of the exhaust plate.

You could do it with the boat on a lift but it would probably be better and faster to pull the boat out.

No need for lift or haul out. Tilt motor up and undo the two housing bolts.....and hope they don't snap off......

Did mine 2 months ago.Tilt the motor and take the 2 screws out just make sure you put water proof anti-siz on the bolts before you put them back in.
