Removal/replacement of trim tilt relay on 2008 50 tlr 2 stroke

I am a new member looking for help


have a 2008 50 tlr 2 stroke that is having trim tilt issues. I have removed the green and blue wires from the relay and hooked them directly to a 12v battery and the t/t motor works fine either up or down reversing the wires.
I assumed it to be my relay and now am looking for help with the removal. It appears I will have to remove starter and some brackets.
I was sure hoping there would be some pictures pre and post disassembly for this job. Thanks

Not sure if you will get pictures from anyone...you never know.

Take pictures of it all together, start the disassembly taking more pictures as you go. Then reverse the process using your pictures as the guide.
You can label the wires with some masking tape if that suits you better.
It is not a big job...just got to start doing it. I am sure you will do just fine.

are you sure it is the relay and not the relay control circuits?

since you have already accessed the relay to remove the trim motor wires from it - I would think removing the relay would now be trivial

I did not
.It was intermittent so it didn't think or look for a fuse.

Well gave it a shot today and it was not as bad as I thought .
Just as stated in a previous post, you have to remove the starter and then remove the aluminum bracket that the starter rest on to access the 10mm bolts that hold the relay in place.
It sure could have been engineered with easier access to this relay. Also I thought it was a pricey relay at $200+ .
This is a great site and I will be back to learn more. Thanks.

It is not that simple. It requires you to remove the starter and a couple brackets just to access the bolt heads which a facing towards the block

I did not see a fuse. Because it was intermittent, I didn't go that route

it is working great.
She's been sitting up for a couple months .I can't wait to get back in the water
