now a days the dealers do not need to discount the models they still have on hand to sell them to make room for the new models. they can sell the motor as a new one years after it was made and people should be happy with that

But that looks like only part of something
I'm guessing a pressure sensor, with the electronic portion broken away?
Does not seem to exactly resemble the current Yamaha device:

I was not confuzeled. there is a F225txrd which was a 2005.
the F225TXR was not an 05.
there are some differences..
for the 06 and up motors there were serial number breaks for any modifications to the base model.
once you figured it out it was not so confusing.
parts smart based programs not so much and the snap-on parts manager pro program sucked and still does.
it is better than Volvo EPC off line.
some of the early run supposedly command link compatible ECU's simply were not.

Fairdeal, Ive looked into the interface from Yamaha to Simrad and you need to have at least the 6y9 gauge and then the gateway. It looks really good for people that have more money than me with a second station vessel. Also I'm not getting any trim or rpm info on either the Garmin or Simrad when name 2000 connected.

getting Command Link / NMEA 2000 Yamaha engine data on a "third party" MFD has always been confusing;
recently Yamaha Navico and Garmin have added another level of obscurity: offering to make a MFD mimic a Command Link display
You may be seeing information on that latest wrinkle, which is described as requiring either a Gateway or a CL7 display.
But you need neither simply to display the engine data.
Exactly which model Garmin do you have?

The comments included a discussion of the difference from the existing capability to simply display engine data:
"What do we gain...other than a fancy logo and *****ing settings? My MFD has all the Yamaha gauges and fuel this has... "
"one of the main gains is that you could have a simple second station without a Yamaha Command Plus screen.
I do not think the Simrad Instruments screen was very friendly for triples.
Otherwise, I agree it is not much more than a fancy screen."
And regarding
"you need more than just the Gateway, you have to have either the "combination of Gateway (6YG-8A2D0-00-00) AND a Yamaha 6Y9 Gauge" ...
Just clarify for you guys running the Gateway and/or the 6Y8 (round guages) it won't work...according to Simrad."
As I said, it is all very confusing; both for us consumers - and the various "customer support reps"
