Fuel Line left connected

The manual for my T9.9 indicates to disconnect the fuel line when the engine is left tilted up.

I am concerned dirt could get into the fuel connector when left disconnected.
what do you suggest leave fuel line connected or not

The reason, I believe, that Yamaha recommends you disconnect the fuel line when leaving the motor tilted is to prevent air pressure from the fuel tank pushing gas past float valves in the carb bowls.
I would just try leaving the vent on the tank open a little to prevent pressure buildup - and leave the fuel line connected.
