  • F225 low compression

Just bought a boat from an auction and she has a pair of 2002 Yammie 225 hp 4 strokes. First pair of 4 strokes, so I am fairly green with them. Upon inspecting the motors I recorded the following compression numbers:

    Stb. motor
    Cyl 1. 116lbs
    Cyl2. 89 lbs
    Cyl 3. 81 lbs
    Cyl 4 51 lbs
    Cyl 5 48 lbs
    Cyl 6 85 lbs

    Port Motor
    Cyl 1 136
    Cyl 2 119
    Cyl 3 54
    Cyl 4 72
    Cyl 5 98
    Cyl 6 143

In addition the starboard motors oil level was extremely high, to the point that when I pulled the dipstick is came flowing out of the dipstick hole. It also smelled as if it was mixed with gas. Any thoughts or ideas? I filled the cylinders up with motor oil and I will recheck the compression numbers in the morning.

looks like those motors are shot.

Leak down test would be better than compression test

if they run at all, have a Yamaha dealer decarb it using the YIES cleaner.
this chemical is not for sale to the public and is for dealer use only but it works wonders on stuck rings.
once the treatment is done then have a leak down test done.

        Quicksilver Power Tune

What is the consensus on Quicksilver Power Tune. Waste of time and money?
I'm sure professional strength Yamaha YIES is superior, but whats a home boy to do...
If its got teats or tires, you bound to have trouble with it....
