has anyone ever tried to install a seal on the center piston on a 85hp Yamaha tilt/trim ?

how do you get the top seal off with that eye on the shaft ?

I don't believe the eye on the shaft does NOT remove, the assembly comes apart from the other end.
I believe the cap with the 4 small holes (atop the ram housing) have to come off (its torqued very tight) and the ram assembly has to come out of the unit.

There should be a nut on the bottom of the ram. Once the assembly is apart, you can R&R the seal. What you see is a dust seal, two O-rings under that keep fluid in (at least on my F150).
