We currently have a 200HPDI outboard in our workshop with a issue that we think is the ECU.
Motor is not running properly and when we put the diagnostics it we cannot get cylinders 4 and 6 to fire, we changed the plugs out and swapped the coils and still no spark just dead!
We presumed that it must be the ECU , but we had to be certain as it is a pricy item we thought we would try a used one first.
We managed to locate another but from a differnt year model, we fitted it to the engine and connected it to the diagnostics and hey presto we have spark on all the cylinders but the diagnostics shows a fault on injector 4.
swapped injectors and still will not open injector 4.
Would you guys say that this points to a ECU problem and the second hand ECU is not compatible with the engine?
If it is not compatible , would we be able to take all the electrics from the blown powerhead and put it on the problematic one?
Your guys response would be great!
