Yamaha 115 -96 piston rings obsolete?

I want to order piston rings 6R5-11603-00, but it is listed as obsolete? How do i find the one to order?

Check with a dealer. Part has been replaced by another part number.

Checked with Yamaha website, that is the one. But on boats.net its listed as obsolete.

Look at the rings for a 1997 115 Yamaha. Same pistons, same block, different rings.

Appears that the 1996 rings supercede to the 1997 rings. 64D-11603-01-00. Appears to now be a 64D-11603-02-00.

A dealer could have told you all of this. We all hate dealers but they can be quite useful.

boats.net has, and has had, a problem with part supercedures for quite a while.

Thanks Boscoe. Have to call the dealer to be sure then. Will order from boats.net, the parts prices here in Norway are quite stiff. 3 times the one in the states.

My engine is an European model, so it's not that easy to find the right parts on boats.net
