I have a pair of 225 hp yamaha engines.Is there any special techique for removing these water separating fuel filters?

Typically just a standard oil filter wrench is all that's needed. The problem is with the aluminum bracket the corrosion sometimes seizes the spin-on filter in place and you have to beat the crap out of it to remove it. I recommend swapping out the aluminum mount for a stainless mount. Check with your local Yamaha dealer they now carry them, about $35 apiece. You can also find them at West Marine and online as well. Put a little grease along the rubber seal when you reinstall the new Racor as well. Good luck.
