Disconnect the shift cable at the engine. Does the motor shift into and out of reverse gear easily? If so, it might be the shift cable and/or the throttle/shift control. If not, the lower unit might need to be serviced.
Standard procedure is to position the throttle handle straight up so that the motor is in neutral. Then, adjust the terminal fitting on the end of the shift cable at the motor so that it just slips over the shift control pin. Secure the terminal fitting with the locking nut.
What is the model of the motor? That always helps to know.Comment

A regulação deve ser feita junto ao motor (dentro do capot) onde é possivel fazer a afinação.
