I am getting desperate, and hopefully somebody here can help me out. I have a new 1660 that I am picking up from the builder this weekend, and as of right now, it looks like it is going to be a paper weight.
I found a clean '99 Yamaha 60hp 2-stroke with console steering for sale locally, and called up the Premier Yamaha shop in Houston to find out if I could get a kit for adding a tiller handle to it. The parts guy said "yeah, no problem". So I went ahead and bought the outboard.
Here's the problem... I then went to the Yamaha shop and put the tiller handle and fitting kit on order, and about a week later, I got a call from the shop saying that they can't get the fitting kit until JANUARY!!! I have now tried ebay and boats.net, and everybody I have talked to is saying the same thing.
I bought the motor because the Yamaha dealership said it would be no problem to get a kit, and now I have a completely useless motor until January because they lied.
Please, if anybody has any lead on a fitting kit, or source that I can get in touch with, let me know, it will be very much appreciated.
