I have a 1990 Yamaha 150. The oil reservoir on the motor is low. The oil tank pump was not working. I tried the oil pump directly to the battery and it work and then it would stop. So i replaced the oil pump (with a new one). I started the motor and still the pump is not pumping. What can i check to see why its not getting any power? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The pump should have 12 volts on the yellow wire in the oil harness and then 12 volts on the brown wire to the pump whenever the key is on. There are two connectors to be concened with. One in the engine pan and one at the oil pump. Make sure they are in good condition.
Just as important is the blue ground wire.
Once the pump problem is fixed it probably is time to change the oil filter/strainer. It is near the pump.
