VST Help Needed

Can anyone tell me how hard it is to change the VST filter in a 2006 115 hp four-stroke? Any tricks you may know to do it? My motor won't hardly run after idling for a short time. Any help would really be appreciated. I have changed spark plugs, inline filter and filter on back of motor.

Ive only done 2 strokes

remove the intake manifold.
if your careful and don't bend the gasket it can be reused.
usually takes me 1.5-2 hours.
if you have the oeticker clamps and have to cut them use ONLY that type clamp on reassembly.
DO NOT use standard worm screw type clamps.

You sir,, are VERY correct on the hose clamp issue !! it left the factory with them for a reason......Tip of the hat to you !!

Can I ask why it is important to use same type of hose clamps.I recently removed the vst etc and renewed the high pressure hoses , reassembled with normal worm clamps, at the moment everything is working fine.What would the consequences of using the wrong clamps. Thanks in advance

High pressure undercowl fuel leak... saw a brand new etec blow a cowl 20 feet up in the air....while motor burned...

there are so many types of clamps and all have a specif job...otikers are a true 360 degree clamp and are GREAT for fuel/oil hoses on a outboard !! worm srew clamps are really a poor clamp for a small hose with pressure

use the right clamps

as pressure in the rubber hose increases to 50 PSI or so then back to 0 psi the rubber moves.
worm screw type clamps can loosen with that flexing.
45-50 PSI fuel leaks are bombs.
your boat your money.
do as you wish.

My boat is home for the winter so that's one job that will be done before I use it again.I renewed the high pressure hoses earlier this year, and didn't realise the consequences of using wrong clamps.Thank goodness for these sites where you can find valuable information. Hi, I removed and cleaned the vst , injectors , etc in my f115 recently after being let down by my local dealer.
It isn't so hard as it looks, take photos as you go and tag all the pipes and electrical connectors as you go makes it a lot easier when reassembling.
