You may be right about that, I don't know. But it seems to me that a lot of posts here are for older engines, thus more maintenance to be done. I see a lot of engines that are used by commercial fishermen and the Yamaha units seem to be the longest lasting of all brands.

Ding, Ding, Ding...Yam wins the contest. They are Cleco's.

Used to hold sheet metal parts together while fitting, drilling holes, countersinking....ect before you do final assembly....namely riveting or other permanent fasteners. They are put in and removed with a special pair of pliers, Cleco pliers, which open and close them against a internal spring.

The sizes in the picture are:
Silver 3/32"
Copper 1/8"
Black 5/32"
Gold 3/16"

There are more colors for different sizes...but those are the most common.

When replacing or patching a skin on a aircraft there could be hundreds of those in use. Airplane look like a porcupine. I think the most I have in at once is around 1500.Hard on the hands...
