  • F150 vs Z150 fuel comsunption

    Hi!

I would like know if on a same boat is a big diference of a 4 str F150 vs Z150 2 str fuel injection?

Heard Z150 have a little less comsunption!

    Let know your experience/opinion

as the Z motor is a 2 stroke that fires every time the piston comes up vs the F motor which fires every other time the F motor will be more fuel efficient until about 4500 RPM.
after that the fuel burn is about the same for both.
both will burn about 15 gallons per hour at or near WOT.
my 21 seapro with an F150 will run 30 MPH at 3400 RPM at 6gph.
at 5800 RPM I am running 42 MPH at 15.5 GPH.
the flow meter took away my fun.
at or near its rated HP you can figure 1GPH for every 10 HP.
pretty much goes for ALL outboards.

The below chart spec's are a bit lower than what I find on my 97 Angler, closer to Rodbolts boat, same engine (F150)

that angler is similar to my seapro however my top speed is about 42 MPH at 5800RPM.
my boat also has trim tabs, two batteries and a second station on the hardtop.
its also on a hydraulic jack plate.
makes taking off in 18" of water possible.
my most fuel effient range is in the 3400-3600 RPM range.
          I am turning a 13 1/4 x 18 wheel.

My hull is a 1997 and I believe the built in tank is 50 gallons. No trim tabs, 40 gallons of fuel, 5 gallons of fresh water (in a tank under the center console), one battery, no jack plate.

My top speed is also about 42 at 5,700RPM's, I cruise usually at 3,600 RPM's at about 25 MPH, 4k is about 30 MPH.

            Very, very similar performance.

(first pic is before the re-power-has an Evinrude V6, which was a bit lighter and slighlty faster)
