  • Hour Meter Problem

I just purchased an ENG-Meter-4C-02 Hour/Tach for my new 4 Stroke 70 HP motor. It appears to be reading twice the actual rpms. The hours seem to work ok. Has any had a simlar problem? Need some help

      Yamaha Part

The Eng-Meter-4C-02 is a Yamaha part number. This is a sealed unit that has no settings. I have followed the instructions provided on the packaging, and then some, with no avail.

It seems odd that the unit provides a reading twice as high as what is observed. i.e. the spec on the F70 motor indicates the idle speed should be 750 rpms. I have measued, on an after market tachometer, approximately this number. I have looked on Yamaha's web site and not found a link to any direct help from Yamaha. Any help in this matter is appreciated.
