Identifying Engine

Hi everyone. I am a Yamaha outboard newbie with two engines on my hands. One has a strange model number S40MSHD3. I have been through all the charts online, but can't find an exact match. Can anyone help with the following:

Is it 1990 or 2005?
Are parts available to convert this from tiller to remote?

What is the engine serial number? AKA the primary ID. It begins with the number 6 and is on a decal affixed to the left hand clamp bracket.

The Yamaha US website shows no model with this identity. Did the motor come in from outside the US?

S40MSHD3 the MSH indicates this is a manual start, short shaft, tiller handle, i suspect a 40 hp, dont know what the S is or the D3, is most likley a european model...
