CDI assy (6h5-85540-02) when i removed the unit
i found the bottom back side covered the a course
white material(looks like big chuncks of groundup white plastic ? ) it is embedded and covered with the sealing material at the factory from what i can tell. How do i get yamaha corp to examine it for flaws and replace it art

That is normal, Not sure why but Yamaha does that on a lot of the CDI and ECU's.

I think what you're looking at is called "heat sink compound" It's used to help remove the heat generated in the electronics to the outer world. ie: to what it's mounted to. The 2 sides aren't perfectly machined, so it's used to transfer the heat. After a couple of years, it dries up and when it's taken apart it's hard. Clean it off and replace it with new compound. It can be picked up at electronic stores or Radio Shack.
