Unused Engine

I purchased a G3 pontoon in 2008 and have used it very sparingly since then. It has a yamaha 50hp Four stroke on it. I have not actually started the motor in about 14 months. I had just finished the 10 hour maintenance routine prior to storing the boat. It has been stored inside in a climate con*****ed environment all the time. My question has several parts. 1) the Yamaha four stroke is a 2006 model - were they all EFI by that time, 2) The gas has had yearly stabilizers added to it - should I actually drain the tank and use fresh gas, 3) How should it be started for the first time again and do I need a mechanic to check it out before? I would dump all the gas,drain the VST,drain the fuel lines and install a water pump impellor. then attempt to run it.

4 years in storage

I have twin 225 ox66 that have not run in 4 years. 2001's with
very low hours and properly fogged each year and gas stabilized. full tank with 240 gal. i am having a yard install new impellers. what else would be mandatory other than filters?

Well,I second Rodbolts about all new gas and impeller....I also would give the pistons a shot of a good oil (areokroil) towards the TOP of the pistons and let soak/spread...don't forget to purge the fuel line from tank to fuel filter and beyond !!! I see guys drain tanks and don't drain any more than that and then kill/ruin other parts of a fuel system !! I also like to turn the motor by flywheel after oil shots AND A BIT OF SOAKING...AND after lower unit removed !! any thing that's not smoove,, means a problem..."DO NOT" start a motor that has been sitting for a while,, with out attention !! a Starter has power to break rings and ring landings....its sorta like ***........she's better with a little lube....LOL...whoops,,I just reread about the 240 gals of gas....sorry,,,dump it...And this is not up for debate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you worried about 240gals of fuel then be prepared to spend what boat means in laymen language BRING OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND ,i would be doing what rod suggest and more maybe get the fuel injector serviced as well if it has been sitting for so long ,and what boscoe suggest little lubrication gives good penetration in your case it will save your sticking rings if they are stuck
