  • Fuel Guage Trouble Shooting

I have a 2002 Yamaha F225. Last trip the fuel gauge started blinking it was empty. I have installed a new sending unit, same result. I am not interested in a fuel management system at this time. Where do I look to check grounds? I connected both wires of gauge at sending unit hoping gauge would respond, nothing. Other ideas? Using the ruler method is a pain... LOL

The sender normally has a pink wire and a black wire attached to it. Sometimes also a green wire.

If you suspect that it is a ground issue then check the black wire at the sender for continuity back to the negative terminal on the battery.

You can also check the pink wire for continuity from the sender terminal to its connection point on the gauge.
