oil leaking 200 hpdi

im getting 2m oil leaking somewere under the cover when i put the motor down i see the oil in the water can not see where it is coming from anyone have this happen? motor is a 2003 200 hpdi

usually its the engine tank oil switch leaking.

are you talking about the oil level gauge or something else

The main oil tank sensor has an integral cap that is used to attach the sensor to the main oil tank. It is normally sealed so that oil does not seep out when the motor is tilted up. Check there to see if it is leaking as this is a known leakage area, especially in older motors. The seal simply loses elasticity and fails to do its job.

If your cap/seal is leaking you might try installing a tie strap around the outer perimeter of the cap to help make a better seal. That or a new sensor. Or stop tilting the motor to the full up position.
