  • ox66 225

    i have a pair of 2001 225hp on the back a 23 regulator.Port motor intermittantly quits running.Sometimes it will restart,but most of time it wont. Ive replaced fuel pump in vst unit on (bad) advice.Ive also determined there is no spark when this happens.Now im being told it could possibly be the ign. switch.Anybody got an idea for further help?

    First 2-things I would do: Look for bad connections & check HP fuel pump pressure. When was the last time the LP fuel pumps were replaced.

      must be quite stern heavy
      swap both harnesses @ keyswitch/ 10 pin AND browns / p&s and see if issue swaps sides

        why?
        you could also simply replace parts till it runs.
        or you can trouble shoot.
        only two things the key switch does for ignition is unground the kill circuit and at the start position makes the motor crank over.
        the ign system on the OX66 is self powered.
        its an an alternator driven system.
        if the ECU sees a crank signal and a stop signal you get an alarm.

          i replaced a pair of 150s so it only added approx.200 lbs. definitely changed the attitude of boat but i got used to it.back to problem-dont know when lp pumps were replaced,but it appears elect.system shuts down completely.i had thought about swapping harnesses at key switch , havent done it yet, but rodbolt says it wont help anyway.weekend weather has sucked so havent splashed boat in 2 wks.guess ill check all connections and grounds and get back with you. thanks for the help

              225 ox66

              finally got back on the water today.motor began failing more frequently.after swapping parts between motors,it appears the relay assembly is bad.we could actually feel it heating up just before motor quit running.Ill let yall know if i got a winner after part is replaced
