  • Tilt limit switch

I am trying to hook up a tilt limit switch on my 2011 SHO cant find wires to plug into. 63P-825E0-01-00 TILT LIMIT SWITCH

No all SHO motors have the capability of having a tilt limit switch installed. Go to this page of the Yam MRP catalog and it will show you the starting serial numbers for those motors that can be retrofit with the tilt limit switch. Hopefully, yours is one of the later serial numbers.

If you can't find the appropriate connector it might be that you have one of the earlier motors? Hope not, but...

Did the switch not come with instructions?

      Tilt limit switch

I saw that serial number break and what I was hoping was that the wire harness was the same and it would be a plug and play deal. Guess not so now I need to find a wiring schematic for a 2013 model to see where they hook it up. Thanks for your help.

It is more than just electrical. At a minimum the clamp bracket bolt is different. See item 15 in the illustration below.

Yeah it has two holes in it. Past that problem already. Need schematic and I can make this work.

You gotta love Yam. They make it a challenge. Very rarely do any kind of instructions or advice come with their kits.

Maybe they are expecting a Yam dealer mechanic to do the install. When he does not know he can call Yam. Yam probably won't know either.

                schematic wont help.
                simple understanding will.
it ties into the relay control connector, breaks the up circuit when the limit is reached.
                its simple plug and play.

Are you sure about that on a 2011 SHO it is not within the serial number break and I have looked all over in the area of the trim relay. No connectors like that. So yes a schematic will help in my case because I may not be hooking it up exactly as it was intended.

It would be plug and play if your motor's wire harness was the correct configuration for it.

Is your motor earlier or later than the engine serial numbers that are listed n the Yam rigging book for this option?

If earlier, then it won't have the connector that you are looking for.

Having said that, here is the way that it works. Your normal PTT switch feeds current to the up relay via the sky blue wire whenever a PTT switch is pressed to the up position. Instead of the blue wire going directly to the relay it is routed through the up limit switch so that any time the motor reaches a certain up position the up limit switch will stop it from going up any further.

                    Comprende?

A SHO motor service manual will provide a diagram of the PTT wiring. Get that and you should be able to figure this out on your own. You will be your own electrical engineer.

                    Good luck.
