2004 F6MSHC - rectifier installation

Just purchased the motor new and will be using it on my sailboat, so I would like to have the capability to charge my battery with the motor. I was under the impression that I need is an optional rectifier kit but the dealer said it's not available for this model.
Can I install the rectifier kit as listed under optional and does it come with installation instructions?

You can order 68T-81960-00-00 RECTIFIER & REGULATOR ASSY and install it by connecting Green reg. wires to green wires on engine(lightning coil) connect a red wire from positive post on battery to red wire on reg. and a black wire from engine ground to negitive post on battery.
