Mixing Evenrude/Johnson synthetic with regular 2 stroke

I currently have a 2002 Yamaha 150 2 stroke saltwater series. I have run standard 2 stroke oil since I have owned it. Can I mix synthetic and my old together or do I have to purge the system and start new?

its never a good idea to mix synthetic with regular, run the tank as low as you can, then add,

Thanks for the info. Sounds like good advice. Rather loose 20.00 on oil than an engine....
