  • Trim O-ring Replacement

I have a 2005, four-stroke 115-HP Yamaha. I have a small leak between the gear pump assembly and the main trim body. I have the new o-rings, and am a decent mechanic, but I don't know the proper steps for dismantling the trim, and reassembling. Should I lower and raise the motor manually, and make the repair with the trim "down" or vice-versa? What is the proper metod for refilling the trim and ensuring all air is removed?

if its a SHOWA unit, and I believe it is,
remove the entire unit and replace the 6 or so orings.

if its a saltwater motor, the long bolt wont come out.

It is a SHOWA unit, and it has been in saltwater. How do I remove the long bolt? Is it the standard "let it break off an use an extractor" or is there something else that needs to be done?

Will it need to be refilled with fluid and bled?

I usually destroy the pump body. its not the threads that stick its the corrosion in that long hole.
the motor bolt threads are the ones that stick.
