Hello, My engine is a 1990 ProV150LD. I have spent a good chunk of time troubleshooting but no fix as of yet. After sitting for the winter I get the alarm sounding with the key turned on. The engine starts but stays in limp mode and alarm keeps sounding.
-the battery has a good charge and clean connections
-All connectors look good, I cut and soldered one that looked suspect but no change
At this point I'm thinking the CDI unit, all the wiring for the oil system and tach heads into the CDI.
Also, the engine oil reservoir was acting up last year, it stopped filling so I rang out the sensor and could never get it to fault, I could use the manual over ride switch on the engine to fill it but that is dead now too.
I see used CDI units on Ebay for $200 but I'm wondering what else to try before I spend the money.
