I have a 2006 Yamaha V-Max 225 HPDI outboard motor. I need to know if I can remove the shift rod without having to take the power head off. Can you please help me?
what issues are you having?
typically I find a fastener jamming the linkage.
someone will leave one loose and they find the way fwd and under the linkage.
I hit a log and now I have a lot of slack in the swivel bracket. I think I have broke something and need to know if I can get the shifter rod out without tearing the whole motor apart.
me thinks you haveth no clueth what your talking about.
makes us professional techs a bit leery.
that's why I asked for pictures so I can try to figgue out WTF you are doing.
the mid section is the entire assy between the powerhead and the gearcase.
takes a lot more than a cotter pin to disassemble it.
