  • Trim sensor

I have a 99 Yamaha 100 four stroke. Can someone tell me why the trim sensor goes to the CDI unit. I never had a tilt gauge, so I bought one. I was planning on using the sensor on the motor. To my surprise it was connected to the CDI unit.

We have a 90 tlr and used a spare wire in the harness to the console for the trim gauge. As I did, I suspect you will find the routing of the trim sensor is an on engine harness configuration and not actually connected to the ignition. I also suggest investing in a factory service manual that includes a wiring diagram available online directly from Yamaha.

it does not go to the CDI.
there is a harness from the engine to the gauge.
