I have a Yamaha 2008, 9.9 HP, 4 Stroke outboard (F9.9FMSH) that I would like to convert to electric start. It appears starter kit 68R-W8180-11-00 is required. Has anyone performed this conversion? Does the starter kit come with detail instructions? Is the kit something a mechanically inclined person can install without great difficulty?

No responses? I am looking at purchasing a 2013 9.9 SMHB which is the short shaft and only comes with manual start. I also would like an electric start conversion kit as I can do the install myself.
Would this year/model take the same conversion kit.
Hey YAMAHA, put an electric start option on the short shaft, it's the same powerhead as the long shaft, what the heck?!?
