Hi
I have an ancient p65 / 3.5a outboard which is giving me some grief.
It starts fine and runs fine until you try any extended running on maximum throttle at which point it dies. It sounds like fuel starvation or weak mixture. If you close the throttle it resumes normal running.
I have stripped the engine and replaced the crankcase seals, fitted new points. Stripped and cleaned the carb, stripped and cleaned the filler vent (and run it without the filler cap) and checked all fuel pipes and filters. The only thing I haven't adjusted is the float height as I do not know what the setting should be!
Any suggestions will be most gratefully received.
Many thanks for your kind attention.
