I have a 1988 Seaswirl Sable that I am attempting to mount a 8 hp four stroke yamaha high thrust with a panther 4 stroke motor bracket to. The thick part of the transom is half way down which will not allow for proper mounting of the outboard (cavitation plate two inches below the water line). The place where I would like to mount the bracket for the outboard appears to be 3/8” thick. Is the fiberglass sturdy enough to mount the engine to with a 3/4" thick piece of marine plywood as a backing plate?
