25hp msh shift lever

Have had nothing but problems with the shift lever of my outboard since I bought it. At first it would bind up when putting it in reverse, got that straitened out and now when I put it in forward and throttle up it pops out of forward, how can I adjust to fix this and keep it from binding up when I go to reverse?
