  • Remote oil tank question

Hi,everyone, New here. I bought a used 115 hp Yamaha. It had a remote oikl tan, which has been removed. The factory installed oil tank is still on the motor.
My question is, was there anything removed to hook up the remote tank? The tank has one line coming from it. There is another outlet on the tank tkat is capped. Was this cap installed at the factory? The hose that went to the remote tank is also capped.
The worst part is; I have all the other parts hooked up and am chomping at the bit to try iy out....

there should be a wire harness from the boat tank to the engine harness, and an oil line. and you have to have the boat tank..

I have the tank and the oil line, what I don't have is the harness. The small oil tank is still on the engine and appears to be connected. What I want to do is run off this tank. I don't know how to go back to this tank and eliminate the remote tank.

the tank on motor is too small to be run by itself.
You need the remote tank to keep the motor tank filled so the motor can run for longer periods of time

Thanks, I don't have a book, but I found a schematic online. It showed me how it works and I have ordered a harness. I also ordered a manual for the motor.
Now, I just have to wait.
