At 600hrs my Yamaha 350 V8 outboard had water in the gearbox oil, previous to this, the oil came out just like new every time.
The top & bottom seals were replaced, and I have just had my 700 hour service, and even more water was in the oil than last time, so its got to have new seals again. I am still waiting to hear where it leaked this time.
The outboard mechanic said he didn't know why this had happened, the seals were pressure tested after replacement and all good. He said that only a couple of the six 350 engines he had serviced, had had this happen.
Has anyone on this forum had this issue, is it a known problem, or does anyone know why this would occur ?
