2004 f50 mod

Hey everyone,

I have been a snowmobiler and ATVer for YEARS and I just recently purchased my first boat! Very excited! The boat is in great shape and came with a 2004
F50 outboard. I have been reading about a modification you can do with the restrictor plate in the air box on 2005+ F50 motors that give them a performance jump to roughly F60.

Just my luck, it looks like I have the last year BEFORE they changed the air intake on the motors.

When looking at parts and diagrams comparing the F50 to the F60 of my year (2004) they look IDENTICAL. Has anyone tried a similar mod to a 2004 or older F50?

Any recommendations on how to squeeze more power out of the motor?

Your motor must be carbed so is diferent from newest EFI here remove the restrictor can make a diference.
On your case is more complex... not impossible but expensive!
Unless you could find a cheap F60 "carbed" useless "for parts" EX: with damaged block/cranckshaft

The f60 have more cc than f50(carburated motor)

its the same block
