89 PRO50 Oiling

I have a 1989 PRO50 which is having an oiling issue. When sitting, the oil tank will slowly drain and leak out the exhaust. The lower carburetor seems to be full of oil. Question is: Do the check valves in the oil lines prevent this type of leakage or do they prevent backflow to the oil pump. If they are to prevent backflow to the oil pump, do I probably need a new oil pump?

You need a new oil pump, seal leaking into crankcase.
